Afsluitdijk monument illumination proposal commisioned by: Metropolitan Art Museum of Amsterdam.
The tower can be seen from far away, from the road and from the water. At night there are no other lights. It is a perfect location for a slow changing color program. Based on the first test results at the location, P.Struycken suggested a light pattern with two lightsources, one from the inside and one from the outside. This makes it possible to create a program with continuously changing, contrasting colors. Power supply There is no electric connection to the mainland grid. The extremely low energy consumption of the Trifonar light fixtures makes it possible to operate the project entirely on batteries. The final proposal will include a marine 24V energy management system for the lamps, the microcomputer and a wireless control system. During daytime the batteries are charged by the local diesel generator and a solar panel. |
