| The colors change according to a pattern of changes that will not repeat within 180 million years. |
A colorful light-work by Peter Struycken. The lightwork is located in front of the south wing of MCL-Zuid the regional medical center at the city of Leeuwarden, Friesland. The wall is designed for the lightwork.Check this link for an amazing spherical image of the artwork The 78 color-mixing wall washers are TriFoNAR lighting units, designed by euroGenie to mix the three sources of primary colored light from the fluorescent lamps before beaming it at the wall so, unlike other fluorescent color armatures, they throw black shadows. Concrete boxes support the waterproof armatures. The "bicycle proof" construction was designed by euroGenie and build by eauio, Belgium. The 234 dimmers in the 78 lightfixtures are connected to a central computer and a DMX512 controller. Compressed air, connected to a membrane dryer that also filters out most oxygen, keeps the waterproof armatures dry under rapidly changing environmental conditions. After sunset the four walls change color according to a program designed by Peter Struycken. |
