| environics: environology is the study of all physical environments with an emphasis on the generation of special design strategies for environments of the future. |
| kinetic vitality: the realization of the aesthetic significance of things seen in apparent movement, as a result of the movement of the viewer or the environment, is considered as a special design and planning art. illumination and the night scene offer special environic design challenges. |
| time domain: time is a dimension of many modern works of art. traditionally these are theatre, film, audio or video. some make use of environmental parameters like wind, sun and decay. thanks to computers not only many other aspects of an object can be controlled, like odour, color, temperature and shape, but these factors can also depend on software in real time.
real-time design: sometimes in combination with interaction, (even with an observer) but usually the time structure is generated by the artware (software). this way it is possible to generate a pattern that changes forever, but can always be recognized. fundamental criteria:
pattern recognition and endless variations seem to be in contradiction with each other, but in nature they are closely related. imagine a park with trees. even if the trees would not change, every new walk through the same park could be different. it is possible to make a sequence (logical array) of walks that virtualy never repeats. the view is always changing, but not random. this is characteristic for the work. these patterns have an irresistible effect on people. probably the unpredictable change generates a mental effect similar or comparable to that of the patterns experienced in nature. proprietary software controlls this development in time.
